Orchid: OR240 The Old Church

What do you think?
This is an old cross stitch, made from plastic strimin and wool yarn. The cross stitch was made by Orchid, a cross stitch manufacturer in Indonesia. This model is very popular before the modern cross stitch (using Aida fabrics and embroidery thread). My mother had taught me to stitch with this model.
Well, this wool cross stitch is easy, Chef Auguste Gusteau's motto can be used here: "Anyone can cook" but you must replace the word "cook" with the word "stitch". "Anyone can stitch".

There's some characteristics of wool cross stitch which makes it unique.
First, they still use plastic strimin, but don't worry, this plastic is environmentally friendly, in two years will be destroyed. So, you will never have a UFO (UnFinished Object) when using this media because if in two years you could not finish the stitch then your efforts will be in vain, lol.
Second, of course use wool yarn.
Third, the project is always large, the above size 55 x 45 cm. I think the large size is due to the plastic hole strimin (in aida similar to 9 count). I've seen bigger, more than 2 meters and full of wool.
Fourth, there's only full stitch, no back stitch, no half stitch, no french knot, no other technique. This is similar to Heaven and Earth Designs or Golden Kite designs.

This cross stitch still exist until now (at least in Indonesia) although being less popular than modern cross stitch which using aida. There are some people who prefer to use the wool rather than embroidery thread. I think this is a good thing. Something good must be preserved.
